My restoration project is very slowly coming along. I didn’t get the cockpit sole exactly right, but I think it will be OK. I did have a couple of questions for the group.
Does anyone have any good photos of the seat construction? I’ve downloaded the construction plans, but they are low resolution, and I’m not quite “getting it”. It looks like the aft seat braces against the rudder post? Does someone have a picture of this? I had thought the outboard edges braced against the stringers, but on my boat those are only 9 inches or so above the sole, and the plans say the seats should be sixteen inches high. I can make the seat “panels” easily enough, and it looks like they brace inboard on legs against the floors. But I’m missing on the outboard ends.
Does anyone know of a good source for gudgeons? I think I’m ready to hang the rudder, and the pintles are there, but I need a couple of gudgeons. The plans give a stock part number, and if I had the dimensions of that I could find a good machinist, but I’m at a loss there.
Finally, as I look at my keel bolts, they seem excessively “high”. High as in the nuts are tight, but the bolt above the nut actually goes above the floorboard. Should I cut them down, or leave them? Opinions?
Thanks for all your help!
