I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the list.
I've recently acquired an L-16, that's been partially restored. I need to finish it.
I believe the boat was built in 1955, though I cannot find a builder's plate or hull number.
I have two old mains for the boat, one has the sail number 179. I'm not sure the other, but I think it was in the 200s. I'm not sure which is original to the boat, but if anyone else is currently sailing 179, I'd like to know about it so that I use the other.
I will need new sails for the boat, although one of the genoas I currently have is actually cotton!
My immediate work consists of building a cockpit, cabin floor, and cabintop. I may call Jim Elk to find if he can make me a cabintop, but if anyone has or knows of a mold, I'd appreciate hearing about it and how they made it.
I've downloaded the low-res plans from the web site, but if anyone has high-res, those too would be appreciated.
Also, while I'm finishing the interior, does anyone have any good photos of the interior? I know it's spartan, but right now I have "empty", so I'm searching for what I should do (other than a sole) to finish it.
The boat is currently in Maryland, where I'm planning on keeping it, although my job may take me to New Orleans. If that's the case, then I'll bring it with me.
Thanks for any help!
Don
