BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE - Contemplating New Luders

On Behalf of
Tom Rolfes, Vice Fleet Captain, Mount Desert Island, Maine Fleet

As our national class looks forward to the 60th anniversary of the founding
national championship ( first hosted by the Bar Harbor (Maine) Yacht Club in
1947), it seems an opportune time, perhaps, to consider the building of new
boats. In this vein, we in Maine have begun preliminary discussions with a
reputable builder.

Before proceeding further, we need to gage the potential interest both here
on the Island and beyond whether or not some might be interested in buying a
new Luders. If the initial response seems hopeful, the builder will present
a preliminary report on the likely construction costs. This would also
include a production time table. It would be hoped that these boats would be
ready for launching by June of 2007. The presence of these new Luders on
this significant anniversary would likely prompt considerable favorable
attention.

If you might be interested in a new Luders, or know anyone who is, please
contact me in the near future. My e-address is TRRolfes at att.net.

Thanks.
