Dear Luders Sailors:
The Mount Desert Island Luders Fleet, with the help of members of the
Frenchman Bay Luders Fleet, and under the sponsorship of the Southwest
Harbor Fleet of Maine, is proposing a L16 Invitational Meet on the
weekend after Labor Day, 2007, in commemoration of the staging of the
first L16 Nationals held here in 1947.
Specific arrangements will be worked out in detail over the winter
months, but at this stage of planning it would be helpful to obtain
expressions of interest in participating in such an event. The Fleet
would welcome participation not only from fleets and L16 owners who are
currently racing, but also from L16 owners who previously raced and
would like to resume racing. The Fleet expects to have in the
neighborhood of 15 to 20 boats available, and in addition to supplying
supplementary crew where needed, would also extend an offer of
hospitality to visiting sailors. It is not envisioned that participants
would bring sails.
Please indicate by return e mail your interest in this or possible
future events in Maine. Please also include brief information about your
L16 experience and activities. Selection criteria will be devised based
on the interest shown. We look forward to sharing our beautiful sailing
environment with fellow Luders owners.
(A Notice of Race is being developed to provide additional information.)
Regards,
Tom Rolfes
Vice Fleet Captain
